‘If you want to become successful you need to study hard’ – This is one preaching all of us have heard throughout our childhood. What if you quit school in sixth standard? Would you still succeed in life? Would you still become a Billionaire?

This is the story of Savji Dholakia who broke this taboo. In 1978 A farmer’s son and a school dropout migrated to Surat at the age of 13 and started working in diamond cutting and polishing industry .Today after almost 40 years he owns one of the largest Diamond manufacturing and Export Company in India and exports finished diamonds to more than 50 countries.

Savji kaka got a job in a local firm in Surat at a monthly salary of Rs 169 .During his early years he tried his hands on diamond polishing and cutting and soon moved over to becoming a diamond broker. The entrepreneur in him always wanted to start his own business and soon with the support of his brothers, he started his Hari Krishna Exports. From diamond cutting to diamond polishing to being a diamond broker and now being the owner of Hari Krishna Exports, he has had a hands on experience of every vertical of the diamond trade.

Throughout his journey the only thing he focused on was – Becoming a better human being. “My mom always told me, whether or not you become a big man, you must always try to be a good human being. I adhered to her advice and today I am what I am,” says Savji Kaka. He read inspirational stories of successful people and always remained grounded, that is what he believes, has helped him grow to this level.
Surat – the diamond city is synonymous to the Diamond industry, and the Diamond industry is synonymous to Hari Krishna Exports. Savji kaka has gone through the grind himself, so he understands the true value of money and hard work. He has always had an employee friendly atmosphere in the company and is famous worldwide for his gratification policies. He has been on world news for gifting cars and flats to his employees. He firmly believes in “ Employees are the assets” theory and that is what has helped him take HK to this stature.
