To have the best interiors is to add magic to your spaces. An art in itself, interior designing entails being both tactful and a one with a conscious vision. Synonymous to these terms is Sonal Khandelwal, a 27-year-young interior designer. Her firm, Studio Eterio has been designing and defining spaces distinctively, adding more value to the brand’s name. It is a part of a 32-year-old legacy of Studio_VK by Vijay Khandelwal. Seeing themselves as the trendsetters, the firm paves the way for new-age ideas and mindsets to seep through in the designs. Read along to know about her story and her journey so far.

Formative years

After finishing her BBA from Xavier’s College, Jaipur, Sonal started working with her father. With no prior knowledge in the field, her skills and the creative spurt surprised everyone. Gradually developing an interest in the field, she went on to pursue her interior designing course in Mumbai for two years from Rachana Sansad. Her family has been a constant support through it all and with that, she has managed to have a whopping nine years of experience in the field both as a freelancer and a partner.

She shares, that anything and everything around inspires her in some way or the other. Along with her brother, Shrey Khandelwal who is also an architect, she wants to take Studio Eterio forward.

Studio Eterio

The ideology of the firm is reflected by the name itself. Derived from the Spanish word ‘Eterio’, which means pure as heaven, they work towards making and developing spaces that speak the same. Their designs translate into a minimalist concept with added functionality. Their work comprises of a dash of quirk to match today’s taste and trends. On their work, they share, “We create unique bespoke space that is tailored specifically for our clients. We personally love the idea of mixing different styles for different spaces and bringing together a cohesive exclusive design.” The firm not only delivers quality work but also carries it out under a budget. From residential spaces to jewellery stores to fashion stores to offices to landscapes and much more, they have an experience working with it all.

A visual thinker and a believer of drawing inspiration by observing, Sonal and Shrey have turned their studio itself into a nuanced visual experience. From their work space to their stairs, their studio exhibits whimsical alchemy of varied trends and styles of interiors. The showcasing of trends helps people choose easily, letting them visualise their spaces in real time.

Swinging forward through the challenges

Sonal shares that the course at Rachana Sansad was challenging. With only a marginal number of students passing, Sonal was one of the few students who passed with flying colours.

The brother-sister duo plan to take the brand forward with Shrey moving onto product designing as well with a focus on furniture designing. They look forward to transforming spaces with both their products as well as their expertise in interior designing.
